Two weeks alcohol free!

I'd be a little remiss if I didn't think about two Saturdays ago when I ended a good 8-day streak. That would have made today's 14 days, 22 days, but really what can I do about that? I'm feeling good! I'm not exactly bounding out of bed in the morning. But generally feel more positive, thankful, grateful, mindful and all that good shit.

I think my diet has improved although I stepped on the scale today and was up a little. I'm just guessing that is because I am more hydrated? I had a bout of food poisoning or a stomach bug on Wednesday. Let me just digress a bit and say that being sick like that with small children is truly a special form of hell.

But I'm ready to tackle anything. And we are headed to the beach tomorrow. I thought I would be a little upset about missing cocktails on the beach but really am looking forward to experiencing a vacation without a beer at 11:30 in the morning. A vacation without hangovers. A vacation with mindful excitement! A vacation without having to juggle drinking my beer while in the pool playing with my kids. That's just not how I want to roll anymore.

I am grateful for the following:

  • Another day to experience life the way I want to - instead of drudging through it feeling lackluster and without motivation.
  • The Sober Community on Instagram! They are so welcoming, supportive, positive and understanding. I really enjoy interacting with a lot of them. And I recently started #thesober30 challenge started from @yourunicornlife
  • The opportunity to go on vacation with my family for an entire week at the beach. I know this is a luxury that not a lot of people get to experience. I have been sort of in a crummy mood complaining about trying to get a lot of work done before I go on this trip but you know what? I'm thankful that I have a job that affords me the flexibility to go on vacation. And while I can't totally stop working for an entire week, it's pretty nice to be able to do it while also enjoying some salt air. Amiright?

Anywho. Onwards and upwards. Thanks for letting me share.
