Day 26: Permission to Change

Welcome to Day 26!

Are you afraid things will change if you quit drinking for good?

I hate to break it to you, things will change throughout the course of your life - both big and small - that you have no control over. So, with that said, you are allowed to change (and you have permission to change!) and proactively move towards creating a new version of yourself.

In today’s video I talk about how I used to fear change, loathe change, run from the thought of change!

But, because of some very wise mentors, I learned the secret to accepting change - RESILIENCY.


We are constantly changing, evolving and shifting our goals - and most of that has nothing to do with alcohol! So if you are afraid of some relationships changing if you decide to never drink again (I was), then I’d urge you to:

  1. Think about the longevity of your relationship (whether it’s a partner, spouse or even family member) and make note of the changes you both have already endured.

  2. Communicate your needs - don’t expect someone to know the things that matter to you if you don’t tell them! (I have a bad habit of thinking everyone is a mind reader)

  3. Get creative and find ways to connect besides going to your favorite restaurant - I’ve started going hiking with friends, suggesting coffee dates and heading to the movies with some of my old drinking buddies!
